Marni Folinsky is a Senior Attorney at AlderLaw practicing in the areas of employment law, dependent adult/elder abuse and personal injury. Throughout her career, Ms. Folinsky has vigorously represented employees in claims of wrongful termination, harassment, discrimination and retaliation against employers. She also is dedicated to representing dependent adult consumers, in particular the elderly and disabled, from the abuses of health care providers and insurance companies.
Since joining the firm, Ms. Folinsky has tried cases both in court and in arbitration. Most significantly, Ms. Folinsky was second chair in a breach of contract and fraud case resulting in a $33 million verdict for her clients whose idea for an ad campaign was stolen by an international corporation. Ms. Folinsky has also negotiated numerous six and seven figure settlements over the course of her career.
Prior to joining AlderLaw, Ms. Folinsky’s practice focused primarily in the areas of legal malpractice and attorney-client fee disputes. Ms. Folinsky became one of the first Certified Specialists in Legal Malpractice Law by the State Bar of California and held that legal specialization from 2011 to 2015. Throughout her career, she has also handled cases of wrongful death, elder abuse, medical malpractice, personal injury, products liability, employment law, wage and hour class actions, copyright infringement/idea theft, and insurance bad faith actions in state and federal court.
From 2008 through 2013, Ms. Folinsky was named a Rising Star by Super Lawyers. In 2012, Ms. Folinsky was recognized by Los Angeles Magazine as one of The Top LA Women Lawyers and has been named a Super Lawyer by Super Lawyers for the past two years.
Ms. Folinsky was born and raised in Los Angeles, California. She attended the University of California at San Diego for two years before transferring to the University of California at Los Angeles. Ms. Folinsky graduated from UCLA in 1997 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology and a Minor in Accounting. She then attended Loyola Law School where she received her Juris Doctor degree in 2000. While at Loyola, Ms. Folinsky was the recipient of the Bancroft Whitney American Jurisprudence Award in Legal Research and Writing for her achievement of receiving the top grade in her class.
Ms. Folinsky was admitted to the California State Bar and U. S. District Court, Central District, in 2000. She is also admitted to the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals. She is a member of Consumer Attorney Association of Los Angeles, Consumer Attorneys of California, California Employment Lawyers Association, and The American Association for Justice.
